When three people share one room, check the third bed first. Some rooms have three regular beds; others have two regular beds and an extra bed. Decide early whether everyone wants a regular bed or whether one person is fine on the extra bed. For three regular beds, start with the Hankyu hotel in Umeda. If you want your evenings in Namba with the market close by, and one person can take an extra bed, compare the Keihan hotel.

This plan assumes 3 adults arriving at Kansai Airport, two nights, and public transport throughout. The first evening is in Namba; the second day covers the castle park and Umeda. Kyoto and Universal Studios are left out on purpose, so the time goes to eating and walking around Osaka itself.

The beds in a triple room

On the booking site, enter 3 adults and 1 room. A hotel listing a triple room does not mean the same offer exists for your dates. Check the exact room name, how many regular beds it has, whether the extra bed is included in the price, and how large it is.

Comparing beds for three people in one room
Bed setupWhat the three of you decideWhat to check when booking
3 regular bedsWhether everyone wants a bed on the same termsThe number of regular beds and the exact room name

2 rooms for twoWhether you want separate sleeping areas and bathroomsGuests per room and the combined price of both rooms

If you would rather have separate rooms and bathrooms, compare 2 rooms for two as well. Enter who stays in each room, and compare the total for both with the same breakfast, tax and cancellation terms.

Namba or Umeda

Namba suits evenings out and shopping around Dotonbori. From Kansai Airport, the Nankai line runs to Nankai Namba. Rapi:t has Regular and Super seat classes with their own fares; compare it with other trains for your arrival time.

Official information: Nankai

In Umeda, restaurants and shops cluster around Osaka Station. Going to Dotonbori every evening adds a trip south and back each time. If you stay in Namba, keep Dotonbori for the first evening and Kuromon for the last day. If you stay in Umeda, stay near the station on the first evening and group the southern sights on day two.

Hotel Hankyu RESPIRE OSAKA · Standard Triple

The Standard Triple at Hotel Hankyu RESPIRE OSAKA is 25 m² for 3 people, with three beds of 98 × 196 cm. It is the room to compare if everyone wants a regular bed. The bathroom and toilet are separate. The larger Deluxe Triple is a different room type.

The hotel states about a 3-minute walk from the 3rd-floor Bridge Exit of JR Osaka Station and about a 5-minute walk from Umeda Station on the Osaka Metro Midosuji line. Add the time from the platform to that exit. This hotel is not the similarly named GRAN RESPIRE, so check the address as well.

Hotel Keihan Namba Grande · Standard Triple

The Standard Triple at Hotel Keihan Namba Grande sleeps 3, with two single beds of 110 × 195 cm and one extra bed. The third bed is therefore not a regular single bed.

The roughly 6-minute walk the hotel quotes is from Nankai Namba; check the route if you arrive at a different Namba station. The official information mentions free luggage storage before check-in and after check-out. Compare the room name on the official page with the offer you book.

Three days in the city

The plan assumes you reach the city on the first afternoon and fly home on the last evening. If you land late, drop the first walk; if your flight leaves early, drop the market on the last day.

Day 1

Drop the bags, then Dotonbori

Kansai Airport → Nankai Namba → hotel → Dotonbori. Leave the bags before dinner, then walk along the canal and around Ebisubashi. Check the opening days of the restaurant you pick and whether it takes reservations or works with a queue. To add Shinsaibashi, eat earlier or save the shopping for the last day. Adding Umeda on the same evening means more trips north and south.

Official information: Dotonbori

Day 2

From the castle park to Umeda

From Namba, take the Midosuji line to Hommachi, then the Chuo line to Morinomiya. The park is large and you walk some distance to the main keep. Going inside the keep takes more time than a walk in the grounds. Give the morning and lunch to the park, then head to Umeda: Morinomiya → Chuo line to Hommachi → Midosuji line to Umeda. Check Osaka Metro for exits and the day's service.

In Umeda, shop and have dinner. For the Umeda Sky Building observatory, allow for getting there and waiting. The open-air deck can close in heavy rain. If you are staying in Namba, ride the Midosuji line back after dinner.

Day 3

Kuromon and Namba, then the airport

After check-out, leave the bags under the hotel's terms and visit Kuromon and Namba. Each stall in the market keeps its own hours. After shopping, collect the bags and go to Nankai Namba. Allow time for picking up the bags, moving through the station and the terminal, and the airline's check-in deadline. With a morning or early-afternoon flight, go straight to the airport.

If it rains

In heavy rain, shorten the castle park walk and swap it for indoor meals and shops in Umeda. Check the castle keep's hours and any closure of the observatory deck separately. If some of you want to walk less, split up for a while. Agree on a specific café or a floor of a shopping centre to meet again, not just "Umeda Station".

For evenings in Namba, compare the Keihan first; for three regular beds, start with the Hankyu. Either way, keep enough time to get back to the hotel on the second evening.
